Dr. Ryan Whitaker, Au.D., CCC-A, F-AAA
Dr. Whitaker joined Hearing & Balance Doctors of Utah in 2009. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brigham Young University in 2005 with his Bachelors of Science in Audiology and Speech Pathology. He then received his Doctor of Audiology from the University of Arizona where he minored in Cognitive Neuroscience (the study of how people perceive sound).
While at the University of Arizona, he specialized in evoked potentials, specifically researching Cortical Auditory Evoked Potentials and the Acoustic Change Complex. He gained clinical experience at Tucson Ear, Nose, and Throat; St. Joseph’s Hospital Balance Center; Arizona Hearing Specialists; and the Center for Hearing Impaired Children.

Emily Christensen is a Board Certified Music Therapist. She graduated from Utah State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and a minor in Guitar Pedagogy. She completed her internship in Birmingham, AL at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital where she worked with populations effected by traumatic brain injury and strokes. Following her internship, she moved to California and founded Crescendo Music Therapy.
Crescendo Music Therapy provides music therapy services for hospice agencies and nursing homes along the Wasatch Front. Her and her music therapy team improve quality of life for their patients using a variety of techniques, including music assisted reminiscence and life review, music with relaxation and/ or imagery, improvisation, songwriting, adaptive instrument playing, singing and/or music listening.
