Walk With Ease-Live in Your Living Room

The Area Agency on Aging is bringing Walk With Ease, the Arthritis Foundation’s program that is proven to reduce the pain of arthritis and improve your overall health, to you. The online version of Walk with Ease is scheduled to begin on May 4, 2020. In lieu of in person sessions, instructional videos will be posted to Facebook and YouTube on the morning of each scheduled session. Participants will be invited to watch and follow the instruction, then go for a walk on their own. This free class will allow seniors to share experiences and teach them how to safely make physical activity part of their everyday life.

No matter if you need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be active, the Arthritis Foundation’s program will help you to develop a walking plan that will meet your needs, stay motivated, manage your pain, and learn to exercise safely. Walk With Ease is proven to reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis, increase balance, strength and walking pace, build confidence in your ability to be physically active, and improve overall health. The six week Walk With Ease program includes a guidebook and a walking schedule to get you safely moving toward better health.

“Comprehensive studies demonstrate that Walk With Ease reduces pain, increases balance and strength and improves your overall health. The program will help motivate seniors to get in great shape and allow them to walk safely and comfortably,” said Maria Bailey of the Area Agency on Aging.

Walk With Ease group sessions videos will be posted three times per week for 6 weeks.  Trained group exercise leaders begin each session with a pre-walk discussion covering a specified topic related to exercise and arthritis, followed by a 10- to 40-minute walk that includes a warm-up and a cool-down.
